Energetic, mission-oriented Director with ten years of experience in the non-profit sector. I aim to apply my knowledge and talents in urban community development specifically by helping to provide resources that will remove historic systemic obstacles for our most resilient community members.

EXPERIENCE

Education Director
Jan 2014 – Present | Orange County Coastkeeper

The Education Director position manages all education programs. These include the WHALES Program, a watershed-based education program that reaches over 2,500 students annually and Kids’ Ocean day, a marine debris education program reaching over 1,000 elementary students annually. Duties include: event planning, communication with teach-ers, students, partners, funders and the media, creating and maintaining project budgets, grant-writing, research and fundraising, writing and submitting reports, curriculum development and public speaking.

Beach Cleanup Coordinator
Dec 2013 – Jan 2015 | Orange County Coastkeeper

Responsibilities include: recruiting volunteers, submitting beach permits, staffing events, fundraising, social media, compiling data and reporting.

Education Coordinator
Aug 2012 – Dec 2013 | Orange County Coastkeeper

As the Education Coordinator for the various education programs at Coastkeeper, responsibilities include: assisting the Education Director by, scheduling in-class presentations and activities, scheduling and leading field trips, logistical organi-zation, curriculum development, leading student groups, public speaking and grant writing.

Coastkeeper Garden Intern

The Coastkeeper Garden is a demonstration garden featuring California Friendly © plants. Duties included garden maintenance, garden inventory, grant reporting, and plant research.

VOLUNTEER WORK

Children’s Water Education Festival Planning Committee
2014 – Present | Orange County Water District

Provide ideas and suggest strategies for the success of the largest water education festival in the nation.

Guest Scientist
2012 – Present | Newport Back Bay Science Center

Host a mud biological assessment station at monthly Marine Life Inventory events including water quality tests and capturing and identifying benthic macroinvertebrates from the Newport Bay.

Voting Member, survey, vet, and endorse political candidates that will help protect the environment.
